Independence Day

Today is a day when I'm happy to be independent. Ok So I'm not really independent I have a great husband who supports me. But it is a day when freedom to be who we are is so much more important then on other days. In many countries people are silenced because of their independence, they are not free. As much as things have changed in the negative over the last six years, one thing that has not changed is the fact that we are still basically free to be what and who we are.

Today I crocheted some motifs for my purse, it is pink and brown. It's been flying around my head for weeks and I finally have a few moments to create something right out of my own head. I've happily been doing some custom work lately so it's nice to just let my own creativity be free.

I'll share pictures when I'm finished and basically just wanted to send out a keep stitchin to anybody who happens to read my blog. Be free, keep stitchin and be happy we can do what we love.

Just passing by. I have spent the day making more ornaments. I am really loving making ornaments this year. I give thanks to Kathy from the Katbird Shop who said that they are little pieces of portable art. It gave me something to strive for. I am enjoying the act of making the ornaments(except for the stuffing which I wish I had a couple of Santa's elves to do). I really enjoyed making Santa's fur on his jacket and his beard and making the french knot sheep so I got up close with the camera so you could see the details. French knots are my favorite, favorite stitch. Also a music recommendation. I am listening to Death Cab For Cutie's Plans which I took out of the library. Very haunting and thought provoking and the most wonderful music to stitch in a meditative way to. For those of you who are Twilight fans they sing the song Meet Me at The Equinox from the movie. Symbols and Circles ReDo

Hi All! I spent my Mother's Day joyfully revamping Symbols and Circles. Still not sure I like it but I like it better then it's previous incarnation, it gave me a couple of hours of blissfully joyful french knotting, it's a bit more interesting, and more reflective of my current work. So that is that and I will now have it at my future shows and maybe it will even make another appearance at Katbird. I am still working on my flame thrower hand and only have a few flamethrowing fingers left. It's on watercolored fabric and the colored fabric makes such a big difference and I enjoy painting on the fabric too. I had a wonderful Mother's Day, nice peaceful and embroidery filled. The Blessings Of Ovation

Today I am thankful for the blessings I have. For the family who love me. For the friends who love me. For my wondrous dog and all the pets I've loved and who have loved me. For the idea of art and creation and the ability of that medium that allows anyone to find peace. Even a tortured soul like me. And for the daily inspirations of life where no one would expect to find them. I was watching Ovation tv the other night and they are doing their Everything is Art week. I am so inspired watching artists and designers and understanding where they come from. More from their work process then the finished project. I seem to understand their art and their process better than I understand my own.
