 The Parrot And the Butterfly The parrot sits in her cage all day, Waiting for someone to take her away, She sits and she waits for someone to speak, Anyone everyone so she has something to say. No words of her own, they were too unimportant, Who should listen to me I have nothing to say, And then one day, much to her sur p rise, She was a butterfly when she opened her eyes. She lived in a cocoon shaped like her cage, No mirror around, never noticed her plumage, Beautiful really, in all vibrant colors, A unique thing of beauty she was in her image. She looked around and wondered what shall I  be, And she heard a sweet voice say look for the key, Where is the key she asked with a sigh, The key is your heart and with that said goodbye. Butterfly is available in my Etsy Shop. It is a hand embroidered butterfly on watercolored fabric and it measures 8x10. When my son was little we went to the Bronx Zoo for a school trip and they had this most beautiful butterfly kingdom. All these different varieties of butterflies but they were somehow contained in one part of the zoo. My soul sort of feels like a butterfly stuck in one part of the zoo. It's pretty there and peaceful but it's not really allowing me to fly at the moment. So I'm trying to do what I can to move forward even if it's just a baby step. One step forward and two steps back but still moving anyway. My soul definitely wants to be free, to claim it's life and move forward. But my human life is kind of stuck. No matter what I seem to do I seem to be stuck in the butterfly net of life. I do know that I have transformed from a caterpillar to a butterfly. This piece is called Flowery Butterfly and it is available at my Etsy shop. I feel like a Butterfly lately.  This piece was started sometime last year and  was almost completed but I found it in a drawer. Perhaps I started it and then another inspiration came to me or maybe I wasn't quite ready to be a butterfly and this piece had to be a cocoon for a while. I have been a caterpillar most of my life.  Kind of warm and fuzzy and not yet formed.  Most of my life was spent catching up.  Till this day I am always catching up.  Then there was the cocoon stage where most of my artistic life was making beautiful things that I never finished and things I thought other people might like.
