Hand of Tree

Hi All! This is my latest piece. It is called Hand of Tree. It is a hand embroidered hand with a blue sky and a green tree(and yes I realize trees are brown but I like to make mine green). It combines my two favorite symbols both the hand and the tree. And my two favorite colors to work with pale blues and green. I was going to bring it to the gallery who accepted my work but after framing and matting it I don't think I can part with it just yet. I guess that is the consequence of using your favorite symbols and colors in a piece.

I have a few more pieces to frame and a few more items to finish so more pictures will be forthcoming and I will try to think of something clever or interesting to say. I hope you are having a wonderfully creative day. See you soon.

Sky blue and spring green!! A treat for the eyes, and very inspiring, it makes me want to do something in those colors. Thanks for sharing your lovely work.

Just passing by. I have spent the day making more ornaments. I am really loving making ornaments this year. I give thanks to Kathy from the Katbird Shop who said that they are little pieces of portable art. It gave me something to strive for. I am enjoying the act of making the ornaments(except for the stuffing which I wish I had a couple of Santa's elves to do). I really enjoyed making Santa's fur on his jacket and his beard and making the french knot sheep so I got up close with the camera so you could see the details. French knots are my favorite, favorite stitch. Also a music recommendation. I am listening to Death Cab For Cutie's Plans which I took out of the library. Very haunting and thought provoking and the most wonderful music to stitch in a meditative way to. For those of you who are Twilight fans they sing the song Meet Me at The Equinox from the movie. Symbols and Circles ReDo

Hi All! I spent my Mother's Day joyfully revamping Symbols and Circles. Still not sure I like it but I like it better then it's previous incarnation, it gave me a couple of hours of blissfully joyful french knotting, it's a bit more interesting, and more reflective of my current work. So that is that and I will now have it at my future shows and maybe it will even make another appearance at Katbird. I am still working on my flame thrower hand and only have a few flamethrowing fingers left. It's on watercolored fabric and the colored fabric makes such a big difference and I enjoy painting on the fabric too. I had a wonderful Mother's Day, nice peaceful and embroidery filled. The Blessings Of Ovation

Today I am thankful for the blessings I have. For the family who love me. For the friends who love me. For my wondrous dog and all the pets I've loved and who have loved me. For the idea of art and creation and the ability of that medium that allows anyone to find peace. Even a tortured soul like me. And for the daily inspirations of life where no one would expect to find them. I was watching Ovation tv the other night and they are doing their Everything is Art week. I am so inspired watching artists and designers and understanding where they come from. More from their work process then the finished project.
