Happy

I'm amazed today at just how little it takes to make me happy. Yesterday and today I have been getting ready for the big holiday show at Albany Shaker and so I decided to make a few holly and berry pillows. Well I was embroidering and listening to Andrea Bocelli and I felt wonderfully peaceful and wonderfully happy. I had forgotten just how little it takes to make me peacefully, joyfully happy. Somewhere in the last year I lost the joy of embroidering and it makes me sooooooo happy to have found the joy again. That is my quest now to work with joy and happiness and peace. I also finished my circle hand which is going to visit the Katbird Shop shortly afterward(the most wonderful shop in Schenectady with unique gifts in every(and I do mean every) price range). I still have to frame it and then I will share it. No mats to my amazement so it will have to wait till a trip to Michaels so perhaps later in the week. I'll let you know when it is in it's new home and share a photo. I've also made some cute new knit bags which I love, love, love. No pictures(as they don't have linings yet). Well I can go on for hours but I think I'll stop here and go visit my bloggy friends. Check back soon for photos and enjoy the rest of your weekend in joy and happiness too!

Yes, happy IS good! I have gotten back to "my roots" of embroidery this year and it has been SO enjoyable. I haven't done it in years and was suddenly possessed with the desire, so have been embroidering for several months. My Grandma started me on embroidery when I was about 6 and I just started my 4 year old granddaughter Lily. She loved it!

Thanks for the nice comments! That makes me happy too. Laura I love that you are doing embroidery and that you are passing it on to another generation. Needlework is something that never fails to pick me up no matter how low, so teaching it to another is giving them a lifelong present.

Just passing by. I have spent the day making more ornaments. I am really loving making ornaments this year. I give thanks to Kathy from the Katbird Shop who said that they are little pieces of portable art. It gave me something to strive for. I am enjoying the act of making the ornaments(except for the stuffing which I wish I had a couple of Santa's elves to do). I really enjoyed making Santa's fur on his jacket and his beard and making the french knot sheep so I got up close with the camera so you could see the details. French knots are my favorite, favorite stitch. Also a music recommendation. I am listening to Death Cab For Cutie's Plans which I took out of the library. Very haunting and thought provoking and the most wonderful music to stitch in a meditative way to. For those of you who are Twilight fans they sing the song Meet Me at The Equinox from the movie. Symbols and Circles ReDo

Hi All! I spent my Mother's Day joyfully revamping Symbols and Circles. Still not sure I like it but I like it better then it's previous incarnation, it gave me a couple of hours of blissfully joyful french knotting, it's a bit more interesting, and more reflective of my current work. So that is that and I will now have it at my future shows and maybe it will even make another appearance at Katbird. I am still working on my flame thrower hand and only have a few flamethrowing fingers left. It's on watercolored fabric and the colored fabric makes such a big difference and I enjoy painting on the fabric too. I had a wonderful Mother's Day, nice peaceful and embroidery filled. I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day too. There are a lot of great things on my links so please take a look if you have a chance. They are so inspiring to me I hope they do the same for you. The Blessings Of Ovation

Today I am thankful for the blessings I have. For the family who love me. For the friends who love me. For my wondrous dog and all the pets I've loved and who have loved me. For the idea of art and creation and the ability of that medium that allows anyone to find peace. Even a tortured soul like me. And for the daily inspirations of life where no one would expect to find them. I was watching Ovation tv the other night and they are doing their Everything is Art week.
