Christmas Greetings

Hi! I hope you are all well and happy and winding down from this busy holiday season. It has been a whirlwind around here lately. It's been quite a few months hand embroidering my way through the pre holiday season. Ornaments, ornaments, ornaments the life blood of the needleworking and every other artist community. Thanks to Kathy from the Katbird Shop I was able to keep it up until last week some time. She likes to call my ornaments(and I'm sure yours too) little pieces of walkable art. It helped me to get beyond that chore I had to do to a quest to find something different. I created more designs, different fabrics while still trying to maintain the designs that people come back for year after year.

The last few months have been a pivotal time for me both my dreams and my reality. I've learned a lot about my business and myself. I think the most important realization about my business is that it is a business and not just a hobby and it is doing something I love so now when I have those moments where I get stuck in a block I will just make some cute little walkable pieces of art and walk along with them. I've also hit a block with my blog as I'm sure you've noticed. But that too will change. Blogging is a community. It keeps you on the straight and narrow and inspires you when other things in life leave you uninspired. Inspiration is the most important thing to an artist of any sort so here I am. It was so exciting for me to see that I picked up followers during this horrid blogless time too so welcome.

Now for the piece at the top of this blog post. It is called Heart Angel. It is the third Angel of the season. Unfortunately I didn't take pictures of the other two. Heart Angel and the red angel are available at the Katbird Shop(link provided) and the blue angel is at the Albany Shaker Museum Christmas Craft Fair which unfortunately ended today. Also a reminder that my ornaments are available at Desolation Road. Speaking of which I am a very fortunate gal to be able to share my work in such wonderful venues. I am so grateful to all the wonderful store owners I have worked with in the past year and hope to find a few more in the new year, but that is a New Year's resolution so we will leave it there.

Blessings to you and yours and hopefully I will see you very soon!

I loved this piece from the watercoloring of the fabric to the wonderful hand embroidery to the finished project. So just checking in I thought I would reshare it.

I'm working a lot of the time lately so my mood is very centered. Today I took a day off from the mundane errands and the freezing cold outdoors and have been enjoying embroidering an angel. She will also live in the Katbird Shop for a while and hopefully someone else's house too. I'll share a picture when she's framed.

I hope this holiday season finds you centered and enjoying your life and your family. Be back soon with more pictures.
