Starting Over
This
post is inspired by my mother who gave up her hopes and dreams so she could
foster the dreams of my brother and me. She
did not get a chance to follow her dreams when we grew up. She passed away
before she could do that. I am sitting
at that exact moment in my own life and am moving forward to my dreams. My son is 21 years old. He will be a senior in college in
September. He will meet a lovely girl
and marry and leave to live his own life.
He is old enough to follow his dreams.
He’s a great kid, very sensible and responsible and I am sure he will be
able to accomplish anything he wishes in life.
Every
moment in life is a new beginning. A
chance to look at the choices we have and choose the path we want to walk
down. We have to find ourselves in the
light at the end of the tunnel. For
months my soul has been talking to me, saying turn off the music, meditate, find
the things you love, let go of the rest and move in the direction of your
dreams. I think I owe it to my mother to follow that advice.
I
have taken up meditation which is a practice I find so liberating. No matter how you feel going into meditation
you come out stronger. More focused. I
have started practicing silence also, and just working with my feelings. Feelings give a more direct link to your
heart. Your heart allows you to dream and work without fear of making a
mistake.
I
have been talking the last few weeks about the christening outfit I had started. Last night I looked at it and it just didn’t
feel right. It had too many stitches and
was very heavy. So I did the unthinkable
and ripped it out. The old Debbie would
have abandoned it in a bag somewhere and moved ahead to another project, but
DebraAnn was able to rip it out and start over again. My heart did not even lurch as I ripped it
out. It felt like the right thing to do. And this morning I picked it up again and
it just felt right. I made a mistake,
took a few moments and fixed them.
Every
mistake we make can be gotten over in a minute if we choose to do it. We are the masters of our own destiny. We make the rules, play the game, win or
lose. I am going to live my life in passion and inspiration. I am going to go confidently in the direction
of my dreams and live the life I’ve imagined.
