Lovely winter scene heart hand embroidered

I love to embroider one of a kind pieces.  My whole thing was drawing something simple and then letting my needle take over.  When I embroider a framed piece its never finished until it’s finished.  There is always a thread that needs to go just there right where it belongs.  It’s where the tangled in stitch comes for me.  I never really did that with my heart ornaments.  Yes they are all hand drawn and hand embroidered so they are all one of a kind but it doesn’t feel that way to me. It feels like I’m an ornament factory.  When I make ornaments for the coop I do them in batches of 5 so I’m doing 5 different sheep, or 5 different joy pillows, but they are still sheep and joy.  I think for my Etsy shop along with the sheep and the joy I’m gonna get a little more artistic with them.  A little more organic a little more float to my boat. Mix things up a bit more.  What do you think?  Your opinions matter because I really want this to work and I’m working to make sure every ornament feels special and everyone who buys one for them self or gives it to someone else knows it was made just for them.  This particular winter scene ornament with candles in the window is available in my Etsy shop.

More Ornaments

Just passing by. I have spent the day making more ornaments. I am really loving making ornaments this year. I give thanks to Kathy from the Katbird Shop who said that they are little pieces of portable art. It gave me something to strive for. I am enjoying the act of making the ornaments(except for the stuffing which I wish I had a couple of Santa's elves to do). I really enjoyed making Santa's fur on his jacket and his beard and making the french knot sheep so I got up close with the camera so you could see the details. French knots are my favorite, favorite stitch. Also a music recommendation. I am listening to Death Cab For Cutie's Plans which I took out of the library. Very haunting and thought provoking and the most wonderful music to stitch in a meditative way to. For those of you who are Twilight fans they sing the song Meet Me at The Equinox from the movie. I'm not a Twilight fan but I am a Death Cab For Cutie fan so that is where my interest lies. T

A little joy 002 , a photo by DebraAnn813 on Flickr. I didn't want to end this year without expressing just how joyful this year was. Not the whole year but so much of it. At the end of this year I'm lucky to share my love of family, love of embroidery, love of music with masses. I've had such wonderful opportunities, such wonderful times with friends and family, such wonderful time hand embroidering and I've discovered how easy it is to be happy with a needle in my hand and headphones on my ears!
