Blue Moons

As in once in a blue moon unfortunately. Blue Moons is one of the projects that has kept me very busy in the last few weeks. Lot's of happenings. I've had my purses accepted to the Kismet Gallery which I am so excited about. My purses are the fun part of my work so it's great to have another outlet. I'm working on making more fun things for the Katbird Shop and I have a craft show at the Albany Shaker Museum next weekend. So I've been working very hard(which in reality is hardly working) and my mood has improved 10 fold. I have plenty of new pictures to share besides blue moon so keep an eye out. Other news, school is over. Summer is here. My 21st wedding anniversary was last week and my inlaws may be coming up for the fireworks on Thursday so fun or not my lovely work will have to wait at least one day while I attempt to make my home look clean enough for the inlaws.

I know I usually have lame excuses for why I'm not blogging but I guess this time you can see it's not for naught.

Now about Blue Moons, I am so loving this piece. It's on a wall in my living room. It started out as just one moon and then became improvisational. I was so excited with it. then I found the perfect cardboard for backing and the perfect frame and everything fit and it was just a wonderful, wonderful piece to make and a pleasure to finish. Made it, framed it and hung it up in 3 days. Love when my work goes so easily.

I hope your life is blissfully happy. Much hugs and kisses if you need them. Keep stitchin and after my craft show next week maybe the whirlwind will calm down. Happy trails.

Just passing by. I have spent the day making more ornaments. I am really loving making ornaments this year. I give thanks to Kathy from the Katbird Shop who said that they are little pieces of portable art. It gave me something to strive for. I am enjoying the act of making the ornaments(except for the stuffing which I wish I had a couple of Santa's elves to do). I really enjoyed making Santa's fur on his jacket and his beard and making the french knot sheep so I got up close with the camera so you could see the details. French knots are my favorite, favorite stitch. Also a music recommendation. I am listening to Death Cab For Cutie's Plans which I took out of the library. Very haunting and thought provoking and the most wonderful music to stitch in a meditative way to. For those of you who are Twilight fans they sing the song Meet Me at The Equinox from the movie. Symbols and Circles ReDo

Hi All! I spent my Mother's Day joyfully revamping Symbols and Circles. Still not sure I like it but I like it better then it's previous incarnation, it gave me a couple of hours of blissfully joyful french knotting, it's a bit more interesting, and more reflective of my current work. So that is that and I will now have it at my future shows and maybe it will even make another appearance at Katbird. I am still working on my flame thrower hand and only have a few flamethrowing fingers left. It's on watercolored fabric and the colored fabric makes such a big difference and I enjoy painting on the fabric too. I had a wonderful Mother's Day, nice peaceful and embroidery filled. I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day too. There are a lot of great things on my links so please take a look if you have a chance. They are so inspiring to me I hope they do the same for you. The Blessings Of Ovation

Today I am thankful for the blessings I have. For the family who love me. For the friends who love me. For my wondrous dog and all the pets I've loved and who have loved me. For the idea of art and creation and the ability of that medium that allows anyone to find peace. Even a tortured soul like me. And for the daily inspirations of life where no one would expect to find them. I was watching Ovation tv the other night and they are doing their Everything is Art week. I am so inspired watching artists and designers and understanding where they come from. More from their work process then the finished project. I seem to understand their art and their process better than I understand my own.
