The Power of One

Every day we are given a choice.  Do we live as one people or do we live by our separations? Do we live as a color, black, white, yellow or brown?  Do we live as a religion, Christian, Jew, Buddha, Muslim or Tao?  Do we live as a nationality, Italian, Scottish, German, Israeli, Syrian?  Do we live as a political party Republican, Democrat, Independent, Socialist, Labor Party?  Do we fight amongst ourselves day after day, all over the globe or do we try to live as one in peace? But for the grace of God, or more accurately for the grace of the Universe we could all be someone else, somewhere else.  We could be somewhere where there is famine.  We could be somewhere where there are children starving.  We could be somewhere where people are being shot in the street for freedom.  We could be fighting in Afghanistan or having bombs dropped on us in Afghanistan. We could be sending our children to school hungry. But for the grace of the univers...

The Road We Travel

Image
Beyond The Yellow Brick Road is available on my Etsy shop.  It signifies the journey my soul has been on the last few months, a time of change, and growth. The road we travel on can be very dark, but sometimes in traveling through the dark we can find the light at the end of the tunnel.  There is always light at the end of a dark night of the soul if we hang on long enough. Our souls and our minds work together to remind us that we are not alone.  Our soul is connected to all of the bodies we've lived in since the beginning of time and all the soul's connections  we've known since the beginning of time When we start living by our souls and our hearts, our head has no choice but to come along for the ride.  Our head has to follow and join the parts of who we are as mere mortals with our hearts and  our souls and make us complete.  We come full circle and become the person we are meant to be.  The person our soul and our heart want us to be....

A Fellow Artist

Image
I am taking a small break from sharing my own work because I have several pieces in transition and not complete enough to share.  These beautiful pieces are done by Chung Ah Park and they are available at Valley Artisans Market.  I just love Chung Ah's work.  It is so beautiful and peaceful and intricate and I just love to see what new thing Chung Ah brings in. I shared her little gourd dollhouse because they are simply amazing.  I love them.  I do not have any idea how she makes them but they come completely furnished with the most adorable little decor you have ever seen.  They have curtains and rugs and furniture and even paintings on the wall.  I remember the first time I saw one of them I was completely awestruck, just couldn't believe how wonderful they are and complicated they must be to make.  She obviously has the patience of a saint. Her pottery is also absolutely wonderful.  Very Zen and peaceful and simple yet complicat...

All of Our Life is a Circle

Image
All our life is a circle, sunrise and sundown is a line from a song by Harry Chapin. I had the pleasure of seeing him in concert when I was younger and this was my favorite song by him. It's profound but all of our lives are a circle. We all have a beginning and an end, a sunrise and sunset. And our lives are lived in circles. We have a circle of friends, a circle of families, sometimes several circles of friends and several circles of families. But we are all connected in some way be it the string theory(my favorite) or some other theory. We all add to the planet and universe in some way. Either that way is positive or that way is negative. We get to choose our way in every single moment. We decide whether our circles are large or small. Do we care about ourselves, which would make our circle small or do we care what happens to people across the globe, which would make our circle larger? The internet allows two people from completely opposite parts of the world to ...

Heart of the Matter

Image
Heart of the Matter is the new name for this lovely finished piece(hooray). I love this piece and it is hanging on my wall until I figure how I wish to sell it or until I feel like letting it go. Right now it is a symbol of perserverence and strength. This tiny little heart sitting in the middle of a matt of tangled thread made beautiful. Just like myself. Hand embroidering and writing my blog are my jobs right now. I am looking for a way to support myself so that I can move on, which was the original name for this piece. All over the internet and the world there are people following the same dreams I am and they are succeeding at it masterfully. They work really hard and they found peace and faith in their heads and most importantly they found a purpose they want to strive for. My purpose is to use my experiences, my words, my visions, my dreams to move forward in a life that reflects the gift of creation that was given to me through the universe and my God. I must belie...

Childhood Dreams

Peacefully sitting on the shore, Silently wishing for something more, A life not lived to the full extent, Periods of time spent in discontent. A childhood dream that is long forgotten, A heart and soul that are misbegotten, A flash of remembrance, a bolt of light, A long held wish in the dead of night. Oh please God give me just one more chance, Oh please God, let me live and learn to dance the dance, I promise I can do it if you'll just hear me call, I'm sorry oh lord I never woke up from the fall. Then all of a sudden a flash of light, Go forward dear woman into the night, To follow up on your every hope and dream, Things are always so much better than they seem. So forward I went with a lengthy pause, A life full of purpose and meaningful cause, To talk to the children who's dreams are still young, And show them the way to write their own song. For the dreams of our childhood are the ones that we keep, They haunt us forever if we just let them...

Love and Happiness

Image
This piece is called Sailor's Knot and it is available at Samantha's Cafe in Glens Falls, NY. The song of the day is Love and Happiness and it was sung by Al Green. It takes so little to find love and happiness. Every morning we as human beings wake up and go about our daily lives. Sometime we have a great day and other days not so much. What makes the difference between a good day and a bad one? The way our minds think. We make choices every minute of our lives. Are we going to think about the things which make us feel love or the things that make us feel hatred? Our thoughts have the ability to lift us in inspiration and peace or to bury us in a world of negativity and fear. Are we going to live in the sorrows of the past or live in the moment to change the future? We all are given the present moment to decide whether to be happy or sad. Do we want to feel anger or love? Do we want to understand that we are mere mortals who make bad choices sometimes? Nobo...
