Beyond the Yellow Brick Road

I finally decided my future lies Beyond the Yellow Brick Road.  This piece will soon as in minutes be available at my Etsy shop.  And the song of the day is by Elton John.

This piece has a lot of meaning to me.  It signifies the end of one part of my life and the beginning of another.  I am going through my womanly changes and this piece was inspired by the most dreadful month and a half of my life and the yellow brick road signifies a new beginning.  A more light fare, kind of as Dorothy going off to see the wizard.  For me it will be a job, a new home, love of myself and a greater awareness of the universe I live in.  I have finally reached the point of moving forward and determining what will come with me.  Although I still hope the wizard has a couple of tricks up his sleeve for me, because in this very moment, I am unsure of anything at the end of this road. I will explore this more on my other blog. The Tangled Thread.  Blessings to all the wizards, the tin man, the cowardly lion, the scarecrow and of course Dorothy and Toto.

Today I am thankful for the blessings I have. For the family who love me. For the friends who love me. For my wondrous dog and all the pets I've loved and who have loved me. More Ornaments

Just passing by. I have spent the day making more ornaments. I am really loving making ornaments this year. I give thanks to Kathy from the Katbird Shop who said that they are little pieces of portable art. It gave me something to strive for. I am enjoying the act of making the ornaments(except for the stuffing which I wish I had a couple of Santa's elves to do). I really enjoyed making Santa's fur on his jacket and his beard and making the french knot sheep so I got up close with the camera so you could see the details. French knots are my favorite, favorite stitch. Also a music recommendation. I am listening to Death Cab For Cutie's Plans which I took out of the library. Very haunting and thought provoking and the most wonderful music to stitch in a meditative way to. For those of you who are Twilight fans they sing the song Meet Me at The Equinox from the movie. I'm not a Twilight fan but I am a Death Cab For Cutie fan so that is where my interest lies. T

A little joy 002 , a photo by DebraAnn813 on Flickr. I didn't want to end this year without expressing just how joyful this year was. Not the whole year but so much of it. At the end of this year I'm lucky to share my love of family, love of embroidery, love of music with masses. I've had such wonderful opportunities, such wonderful times with friends and family, such wonderful time hand embroidering and I've discovered how easy it is to be happy with a needle in my hand and headphones on my ears!
